  • What can I do in Chichicastenango?
Staying in Guatemala offers more than Antigua, Xela or Panajachel. Tourism isn't the cornerstone of economic activities in Chichi, so you will get to live in an authentic indigenous town. It offers places to enjoy nature and the unique opportunity to truly experience the busy day to day life in the K'iche' highlands. It's a great opportunity to visit some of the pre-hispanic ruins that are scattered across the western part of the country, and even assist to mayan ceremonies and celebrations at the cofradías (brotherhoods). It's an experience full of symbolism, history, authentic flavors and natural adventure.

  • Where can I stay?

  • Brotherhoods?
They are groups of locals who take care of a specific saint in an ordinary house. They act independently from Catholic Church and rules, so it's mixture between the ancient K'iche' religious rituals and 16th century Catholic faith. Their celebrations are unique, and many foreigners have described them as "beautiful" with tears in their eyes.
